'Generations' at Abu Dhabi's Green Art Expo explores heritage, inspires change

Embracing Emirati heritage and promoting environmental consciousness, Green Abu Dhabi proudly presents the Green Art Expo 2024 at Manarat Al Saadiyat until February 22. This remarkable exhibition, coinciding with COP28, unfolds as a vibrant fusion of artistry and activism, aiming to reshape conversations surrounding recycling practices in the UAE.

Embracing Emirati Pride and Environmental Awareness

Aligned with the government’s COP28-centric initiatives in 2023, the exhibition titled “Generations” sheds light on recycling as a fundamental challenge while striving to enhance awareness regarding individual waste footprints, thereby simplifying recycling endeavors. It stands as a testament to the nation’s unwavering dedication to preserving its cultural legacy while actively addressing climate change concerns.

Curating a Transformative Experience

Crafted with meticulous care by Suhail Jashanmal, the visionary artist and curator/producer behind Green Art Expo 2024, the exhibition showcases contributions from artists representing diverse backgrounds. These artworks delve into varying perspectives on Sustainable Development, drawing inspiration from the wisdom of the UAE’s Founding Father, the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, whose profound words echo: “He who does not know his Past cannot make the best of his Present and Future, for it is from the Past that we learn.”

Immersive Exploration of Themes

Upon entering the exhibition, visitors are greeted warmly by Jashanmal and Almer Agmyren, Head of Strategy & Partnership, and are invited to embark on a curated tour or explore independently. The space is thoughtfully divided into five thematic sections: Past, Development, Present, Innovation, and Future.

Spotlight on Distinguished Artist

Salim Al Kaabi: Renowned as both a petroleum engineer and chemist, Salim Al Kaabi employs his innovative “Sunlight Printing” technique to capture the historical, contemporary, and future landscapes of the UAE. His artworks pay homage not only to the UAE’s Founding Father but also narrate a compelling tale of Emirati resilience and the urgent need to safeguard its profound heritage.

In conclusion, the Green Art Expo 2024 stands as a beacon of cultural celebration and environmental stewardship, inviting audiences to engage deeply with the intersection of art, heritage, and sustainability. Through this transformative experience, visitors are encouraged to reflect on their roles in shaping a more vibrant and sustainable future for generations to come.
