Emirati Designers Shine Bright at Watch and Jewellery Middle East Show

In a remarkable showcase of talent and innovation, Emirati designers emerged as the stars of the Watch and Jewellery Middle East Show, held at Expo Centre Sharjah. The event, which concluded recently, witnessed an array of captivating designs that seamlessly blended tradition with contemporary flair.

Led by the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI), the Emirates Jewellers’ Pavilion served as the focal point for the display of Emirati creativity. The pavilion, aimed at nurturing entrepreneurship and fostering growth for small to medium-sized enterprises, provided a platform for young designers to unveil their latest collections of gold and diamond jewellery.

Among the standout participants was Shama Al Falasi, an esteemed Emirati designer whose innovative creations garnered widespread attention. Al Falasi’s introduction of a diamond painting project alongside her signature gold pieces infused Emirati heritage with modern aesthetics, captivating the audience with their exquisite craftsmanship and intricate detailing.

This year’s exhibition welcomed over 20 designers, including eight newcomers, signaling a growing interest and participation in the region’s thriving jewellery market. Attendees were treated to a diverse array of jewellery pieces, ranging from elaborate diamond-studded ornaments to elegantly crafted gold accessories, each reflecting the unique vision and style of its creator.

Abdullah Sultan Al Owais, Chairman of the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Expo Centre Sharjah, lauded the increasing presence of Emirati talent at the event. With approximately 420 designers now associated with the platform, the exhibition continues to serve as a pivotal platform for showcasing the region’s rich heritage and creative prowess on a global scale.

Mona Al Suwaidi, Director of the Executive Office of SCCI’s Chairman, emphasized the Pavilion’s commitment to fostering talent and facilitating skill development. Workshops covering various aspects of jewellery making, including gemstone carving techniques and gold quality assessment, provided designers with valuable insights and opportunities for professional growth.

Designer Shamma Al Falasi, reflecting on her inspiration for the diamond painting project unveiled at the exhibition, credited a transformative trip organized by the Sharjah Chamber for Emirati designers to Italy. The project, inspired by encounters with skilled Italian artisans, serves as a testament to the enduring exchange of ideas and cultures within the global jewellery community.

As the curtains draw to a close on another successful edition of the Watch and Jewellery Middle East Show, the resounding success of Emirati designers underscores the region’s vibrant creative landscape and its enduring commitment to excellence in craftsmanship and design.
